Jennifer Ferguson, M.Ed.

Northern Gateway Public Schools has been where Jennifer has grown as an educator: she was working in schools prior to returning to university, and good fortune opened a position when she convocated with her B.Ed. Always a learner, Jennifer has readily engaged in opportunities to build her capacity as an instructional leader, successfully completing her M.Ed. while on maternity leave, pursuing the NGPS Leadership Development Program, and taking on the role of Learning Coach.

Currently a Learning Services Coordinator, Jennifer’s role is focused on supporting teachers and administrators in their journey of ensuring student success. Jennifer wears many hats: she can seamlessly transition from topics of educational technology to numeracy to high school redesign to beginning teachers to Collaborative Response Model to assessment and reporting, all before lunch. The challenges presented in this unique rural context have allowed for a multi-layered and multi-faceted learning, teaching and leadership experience.

Jennifer operates from a standpoint of choosing to believe in possibilities, knowing that a thoughtful and intentional plan and subsequent committed action is necessary to achieve goals. Her positivity, patience and generosity allow fellow learners in her network to feel supported and achieve success. Jennifer looks forward to expanding her own repertoire in this new role at the post-secondary level while at the same time engaging others in enhancing their instructional and leadership practice.
