Both programs meet the Teacher Qualification Service requirements for public sector teacher pay scale increases (teachers only). The MEd School Counselling program caters to teachers in the British Columbia public or private school system . The curriculum is designed for school-based practice and does not prepare graduates for clinical mental health practice. However the newly designed Graduate Certificate in Applied School Counselling with an emphasis on advanced clinical skill development in conjunction with the CityU MEd in School Counselling, has been pre-approved by the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors for Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) certification.
