CPATH 2017 Conference reminder! October 25-29, 2017

CPATH’s FIFTH BIENNIAL CONFERENCE and PRE-CONFERENCE TRAINING and Annual General Meeting will be held at the Coast Plaza Hotel in Vancouver, BC from October 25th-29th, 2017. Transforming the Landscape of Transgender Health and Wellness combines a three-day national conference with two days of pre-conference training workshops.

Conference themes
Plenaries, concurrent sessions, and poster presentations will focus on the following:
· Fostering safety and celebrating inclusion in service provision, systems and sectors
· Supporting trans people across the life course
· Trans people in the community

Pre-conference trainings:
The pre-conference trainings are an ideal opportunity for clinicians to deepen their knowledge and skills in working with trans populations. Topics include:
· a half day introduction to gender-affirming practice
· a half-day introduction to providing culturally safe care for Two Spirit / Indigenous trans people
· a 2 day training for family physicians, paediatricians, and nurse practitioners on working with trans and gender diverse children and adolescents
· a day-long training for speech language pathologists on working with trans people to achieve their speech and voice goals
· two half-day modules for nurses, one of which focuses on nursing in primary care settings and the other of which focuses on pre-, peri-, and post-operative care,
· a day-long training for mental health clinicians regarding what they need to know about physical and social transitions
· a day-long training on providing care and support to trans people in regional hubs, rural, and remote settings
