Master of Counselling International student application process

Apply to the Master of Counselling Program in these steps!

  1. Complete an Application Form, and pay a non-refundable application fee of $50
  2. Submit official transcripts documenting a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution.  Notes:
    • Minimum GPA of 2.75.
    • One set in an envelop sealed by university or universities attended/attending with certified translations where necessary. Select this pre-requisite form to list the selection of courses that you feel meet our criteria. You will also be required to submit a scanned copy of your supporting transcripts.  Pre-requisites
  3. If degree was earned outside the recognized universities: Canada, USA, UK, NZ, Australia, Ireland), please submit proof of English proficiency.
  4. Submit a copy of your curriculum vitae résumé.
  5. Submit three letters of professional reference using City University of Seattle’s Recommendation for Admission Form
  6. Complete this Background Information Questionnaire
  7. Provide a writing sample. You will be required to submit an admissions essay and an on site writing sample. Your admissions essay must be submitted with your application. Please click here for admissions essay guidelines.
  8. Current bank statement (of sponsor’s, if applicable) covering living and tuition expenses for the first year.
  9. Sponsorship letter, if applicable.
  10. Copy of the ID page of your passport
  11. Copy of Study Permit and/or any other official document issued by Canadian authorities.
  12. Copy of proof of medical insurance: private health insurance coverage for the first 3 months and provincial health care thereafter.
  13. Volunteer service. For applicants with no related counselling experience, a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer service is required.
  14. Submit a photocopy of a piece of photo ID showing current name.  If applicable, submit any name change documentation (marriage certificate, legal change of name).
