Michael Claque to be guest speaker at this year’s June 29th Graduation Celebration in Vancouver

We’re delighted to announce that Michael Claque will be the guest speaker at this year’s Graduation Celebration.

Michael is one of Canada’s best known and widely appreciated leaders in the fields of community development, social policy and planning and adult education. Michael was the founding executive director of the Britannia Community Services Centre (Vancouver), and subsequently served as executive director of the Community Social Planning Council of Greater Victoria, and the Social Planning and Research Council of BC (SPARC of BC, Vancouver). From 1999 to 2005 he was the director of a City of Vancouver facility at Hastings and Main in the Downtown Eastside, the Carnegie Community Centre. His most recent book is called Staying True, Staying the Course: A Study of Ten Successful Community Service Organizations in British Columbia (1997-2008). Appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 2008, Michael is actively engaged in community through board memberships and continues to pursue a particular interest in the transformative power of the community arts for personal and community development.

The 18th Annual Graduate Celebration will be held on the evening of June 29th from 7 to 9 pm at Vancouver’s Jewish Community Centre.
