New leadership, and a steady hand continue to guide CityU Canada culture

Following the departure of Arden Henley, our VP and Principal of Canadian Programs, CityU Canada has decided to divide Arden’s duties into a Vice President of Business for Canada programs and an Associate Provost of Canadian programs.

Steve Conway has been named Associate Provost, Canadian Programs. Steve has successfully grown our Counselling programs the last couple of years, and developed great relationships with staff and community. He will help us maintain successful relationships with the DQAB and CAQC. Ever mindful of the unique culture and community that is CityU Canada, Steve will continue to lead and maintain our solid roots in this area.

We are also delighted to announce that Jill Taggart has been named Associate Dean of the School of Education, Canadian Programs. Jill has done an amazing job of growing our Education programs in Canada. Her work will benefit/complement our education work in other parts of the university. She also has a passion for research and will coordinate our research efforts in Canada.

Christine Sjolander has been named Vice President, Canadian Programs. She is wrapping up her work as Executive Director, Graduate Career Management Centre and Employer Engagement for Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business. For the next few months, Christine will be transitioning to her role at CityU for 60% time while continuing in a consultant capacity for SFU Beedie’s Executive MBA program. Christine joined SFU Beedie’s Career Management Centre team in 2010 and was promoted to Executive Director in 2015. Prior to immigrating to Canada, she gained more than 15 years experience in four U.S. based, post-secondary institutions spanning multiple areas including enrolment management, admissions, recruitment, alumni relations, student services, career management, international student services, and academic advisement.

We look forward to welcoming Christine into the CityU Canada community, with the knowledge that her talents combined with our existing team so committed to maintaining the culture that makes CityU unique, will serve all stakeholders well.
