Christine Paget, PhD

Associate Faculty

At City University I teach Research Methods and supervise Capstone projects.  I also teach Social Studies Methods at Simon Fraser University in the teacher education program, and I have been teaching History in the West Vancouver School district since 2005.  I have worked with the Ministry of Education in British Columbia to develop the Social Studies curriculum K-9 and 10-12, and provincial classroom assessment and reporting policies and practices.  I have four young children – two sets of twins – and so outside of academia my primary interests include survival!  Running, yoga, surfing, and travel also top the list.

Research

My primary areas of interest and research include educational policy, assessment systems, education in the developing world, equitable educational access, and research methods including mixed methods.

Teaching

I think the most important things about teaching are enjoyment and relevance.  I think people like learning new things that they can connect to their daily lives, and that help them make sense of the world around them.
