Janine Groeneveld, BSc., BSW

Associate Faculty, Master of Counselling (Edmonton)

Faculty

I joined the City University of Seattle team in 2017. I have a Master’s degree in Counselling from City University of Seattle, and am interested in working with children, youth, and adults. Within those populations, I have a keen interest in working with trauma, attachment concerns, and secondary issues after trauma such as addictions. I am passionate in supporting my clients to have their voices heard and their needs met. I believe no matter the personal circumstance, people have a right to love, belonging, and meaningful connection with others. My psychological approach translates directly to my teaching philosophy. I believe that students have a right to a safe, nurturing, and challenging academic environment. I strive to inspire my students to be their best selves and believe in their own abilities.

 Research

I am not currently involved in research topics, but have a keen interest in further research exploring the role of attachment and safety following traumatic events.
