Kelly Sharman, MA, RCC

Associate Faculty Member, MEd in School Counselling Program, Victoria, B.C.

I have been working for over 20 years in Island Health as a clinician, leader and practicum supervisor, and I am looking forward to being a part of the City University Team.  My focus as a clinician was adult mental health and substance use counselling, and have also managed and developed a number of programs in this field, including intensive case management teams for marginalized populations, community medical detoxification, outpatient substance use counselling, and walk-in community mental health and substance use services. I have had the opportunity to provide onsite supervision to practicum students and enjoy supporting the growth and professional development of new counsellors.  Prior to my work in Island Health, I worked in a variety of school settings as a youth and family counsellor.

I have a particular interest in workplace wellness and prevention of compassion fatigue and burnout.

I believe that teaching is a collaborative process that uses knowledge, experience and exploration of the self to create new processes.  My role is to facilitate this process in a respectful, positive and dynamic setting.
