Bodynamic Training: Precision, presence and change in the therapeutic encounter
Foundation Level Training: Starting June 4, 2015 in Vancouver
Bodynamics is a body centered developmental psychotherapy. It is based on twentyvyears of empirical research on the developmental origins of client’s current problems.vThe model of Seven Developmental Stages is a detailed description of howvdevelopmental experience is encoded in both mind and body. It includes the characteristics, vthemes, muscles, and therapy issues for each stage. This gives access to great specifi city in therapeutic interventions.
You will learn the interpersonal and developmental origins of current problems, allowing you to pinpoint the context of therapeutic issues and how they are held in the body. Then, by inviting your client to use specifi c muscles, you can create a more defined container in which their process is more likely to move towards completion. This precision in your interventions will enable change to happen more quickly for your clients. Since attachment states of mind are predominantly formed in the first three developmental stages, using the Bodynamics model will sensitize you to the themes around which both relationships and psychological development take place.
Working with our Affirmative Relational Messages, and some muscles of these stages to develop new resources, will greatly facilitate your ability to deepen working relationships with your clients. This will foster the healing of attachment disruptions.
In this dynamic, interactive training you will learn:
• the Seven Developmental Stages, from in utero to age 12.
• characteristics, themes, and specifi c muscles to use for each stage.
• to build a relationship around the specifi c theme being worked on.
• somatic techniques to address developmental disruptions.
• the advantage of creating a defi ned container in which to follow process.
• to affi rm healthy development and build needed resources.
• body-reading for each stage.
• the differences between developmental disruptions and trauma
Training Format: Learning formats will include demonstration sessions and supervised
practice sessions, lectures, experiential exercises, and discussions for each developmental
stage. We have designed this training to enable you to integrate the key
principles and basic tools of Bodynamics into your own practice.
