Enrollment Advisors

Marien Farber, Enrollment Advisor – BC

Marien Farber has worked in education for 13 years in various areas including international programs, internships and admissions. Originally from Mexico, she has lived and worked and or study in Italy, England, USA, Australia and Canada. Her passion is to assist students, and to simplify processes. She holds a B.A. in International Business, completed an exchange program at Tulane University. She is certified in bio-energy healing; her hobby is to make and decorate candles. Swati Randhawa, Enrollment Advisor – BC

Swati holds a Masters in Business Administration from Symbiosis International University in India and a Bachelor of Science Hons. From Panjab University, India.
Swati is a seasoned management professional with a total of nine years’ experience in the corporate sector including 6+ years dedicated experience in the Higher Education sector in India and Canada. She has exposure to various Education verticals including International Recruitment and Admissions, University Alliances, and Student Counselling.

Michael Grienke, Enrollment Advisor – Alberta

With over two decades of experience in business, administration, and customer service management, Michael supports students and applicants by guiding them through the enrollment process.  He enjoys facilitating each student’s journey towards achieving their program goals and watching them embark on a new and exciting career path.  Michael appreciates diversity and inclusion and prides himself on being approachable and helpful.  He enjoys hobbies such as reading, weightlifting, boxing, and has a passion for the care of animals. Veronica Homer, Enrollment Advisor – BC

Veronica has multiple years of experience working in post-secondary institutions across Asia and also the United Kingdom.
She has completed both an Undergraduate and Postgraduate qualification in the field of Accounting and Finance. She is also currently pursuing a Master of Education in Higher Education at the University of British Columbia.
She is friendly, and loves spending time working with students comings from diverse backgrounds.

Tomoko Poolthupya, Student Success Advisor – BC

Tomoko holds a MA in Counselling Psychology from Tsukuba University in Japan and she is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) through the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. Tomoko has over 8 years’ experience in the Japanese higher education arena including working as an international student advisor and a student counsellor. Connect with her at: 778-588-5005

Juliana De Matheus, Academic Advisor – BC

Juliana holds a Master’s in Education in Curriculum Studies from UBC, an MBA in Human Resources, and an undergrad in Psychology. I have over 10 years of experience working in Education, as a teacher, a School Coordinator, Marketing Officer and Student Advisor.
Education has always been my passion since I was a kid. I have always loved studying, reading, learning with and from other people. “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” – Nelson Mandela.

Mya Lee, Academic Advisor – Alberta

Mya holds a MA in Psycholinguistics and she worked in various post-secondary institutions as a language instructor and administrator. She has immigrated to Canada in 2000 and has been with CityU since 2012.   She enjoys downhill skiing and golfing for fun and likes to travel to warm places.  With her two sons in college, Mya is more involved in community assistance and volunteering for non-profit agencies. She can be reached at: 587-338-3717

Cathy Liu, Academic Advisor – BC

Cathy holds the Master of Education from Simon Fraser University and completed a B.A. in Journalism and Communication. Ever since graduation, she has been dedicated to post-secondary education as a student success advisor, marketing specialist, and tutor for 4 years. Maika Tshimbalanga, Director of Enrollment and Student Success – BC and AB

Maika has extensive experience in the higher education and not-for-profit sectors over the past 20 years.  For the past 14 years, Maika has been an integral part of the student services team in Canada and she is currently the Director of Enrollment and Student Success.  Prior to joining CityU, she managed a crisis centre and led an admission team for a weekend university.  She holds an M.A. in International Management from the Université de Montréal in Montréal, Québec and is also pursuing a doctoral degree in Education and Leadership (Ed.D.) with a particular interest in adult learners at  Simon Fraser University.  She is proficient in both official Canadian languages – English and French.
Maika’s primary responsibility is to ensure excellence and accountability in recruitment and advising across all sites and programs in Canada by leading the student success and advising team.

Site Supervisor

Andjelka Obradovic, Site Supervisor – Vancouver

Andjelka is originally from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she worked as a Pension Legal Advisor for 16 years advising clients on retirement and pension matters. Andjelka immigrated to Canada in 1996 with her late husband and two children.  She began her career at CityU in 1999 and she assists the advising team in providing support by serving as the primary contact for students and providing general administrative support. She also manages classroom scheduling and coordinates daily staffing operations. In her spare time, Andjelka loves to cook, travel, and dance.  She is part of a performing folk dance group, in which she actively dances three nights a week. Contact her at: 604-689-2489
