Family Preservation Course (Vancouver)

For family support and counseling professionals working in Family Preservation or Family Support services

Family Preservation is a key community-based service in BC, funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Development, in helping families struggling with child protection issues. This intensive model of family counselling primarily aims to assist parents in finding ways to meet the physical, emotional and developmental needs of their children, resulting in their enhanced safety and well-being. This 3 day course will help participants:

  • Build an understanding of Family Preservation as a distinct and unique professional family therapy model of service
  • Appreciate the complexity of working with families in collaboration with, and under the umbrella of, child protection
  • Gain insight into how current counselling theories of working effectively with families must be accommodated to successfully support families involved with the child welfare system
  • Learn practical applications of the model with common challenges for families involved in child protection

Monday, October 21– Wednesday October 23, 2019 from 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM
