The topic: Sustainability in Business and Finance: HSBC’s leadership, commitments & challenges
Maureen is a business consultant who focuses on advancing sustainability in business and the built environment. She was a researcher and project manager at Rocky Mountain Institute—a world-renowned ‘think tank’ on market-based solutions for sustainability. She’s co-authored 3 books on sustainability, taught business and sustainability courses for UBC, Royal Roads University, BCIT and others, and facilitates Climate Smart Business –training businesses to measure and manage their carbon footprint. More recently Maureen became a certified facilitator for Climate Interactive En-ROADs –a systems dynamics tool for examining climate policy and technology solutions.
Maureen has worked with a variety of businesses from start-up to multi-national, and she supports the development of social purpose organizes. She is Manager Sustainability for HSBC Canada, and managed Vancity Credit Union’s Energy & Environment portfolio for more than 10 years. Maureen also serves on the Board of Directors for SolShare Energy and Urban RePurpose, and is active with the Share Repair ReUse Initiative (SSRI).
Maureen holds an undergraduate degree in Natural Resource and Environmental Management, and an MBA. A continuous learner, Maureen completed Solar Energy International’s Renewable Energy program, the BC Provincial Instructor Program, and numerous courses in human centred design, behavioural economics, marketing, and project management.
