Bruce Hardy, Ph.D.

I have been an educator for 20 years and currently work full time at Douglas College as the co-ordinator of the Child and Youth Care degree program. As well as co-ordinating the program, I teach Research Methodology and Data Analysis. I have also taught at the University of Victoria, Fraser Valley University and BCIT. Prior to that, I worked for many years in the social services system, mostly as a senior manager I have 3 Masters Degrees as well as a PhD (from the University of Victoria).

I do a great deal of consulting in the public and private sector as well as running a small counselling practice, mostly with male clients. I find that my private practice helps to inform my teaching. Finally, I am an international accreditation reviewer and visit social services agencies around the world and evaluate their compliance with international best practices standards.


I believe in interactive teaching where the students and I share the journey and learn from each other.  I also believe in the importance of role play to teach new skills to students.
