Dawn Percher

I have been with CityU faculty since Spring 2022 and have had the pleasure of teaching Introduction to Counselling Psychology Practice, Research Methods and Statistics, Psychopathology & Psychopharmacology, Trauma and Interpersonal Violence, Practicum Seminar, and Capstone Advising.  I bring an experiential style and practical experience to students to help prepare them for the complex demands of our rewarding field.

Research

I am most interested in participatory action and transformational research on intergenerational trauma.

Teaching

My intention is to bring applied knowledge to our theoretical foundations so that students are equipped for working in the field with clients when they complete the program.  I believe in supporting the integration of the readings, research, assignments, and course content through experiential practice opportunities.  My focus is on helping students develop their own unique style of counselling, while maintaining a high level of self-awareness.  We unpack our inherent biases and assumptions from our own lived experiences and worldviews so that we can better serve our clients and embody our ethics in the work.
