I’m a veteran broadcaster and podcaster, a curious PhD student with UBC’s Social Justice Institute, father & grandfather, a kayaker, community activist and a pretty average guitar player. I’m a life-long learner completing my MA at SFU in 2018. My thesis was about the science of climate change and the psychology of denial. I’m interested in the relationship between media, art, culture, and our interconnectedness with each other and the world we share. My research and teaching interests include ethics, media and communication, depth psychology, and environmental justice. I’m interested in how we speak across lives of difference and those things necessary to understand each other from the positions that we occupy based on race, religion, gender and culture. I am active in my community with Variety the Children’s Charity, the Bowen Island Environmental Advisory Group, the Climate Reality Project, Vancouver Coop Radio, Vancouver’s DTES, and the Deans Advisory Board at the University of British Columbia.
