Irene Champagne

Instructor, MC program

Irene Champagne has been a Human Services Mental Health Professional for over 40 years and a Registered Clinical Counsellor member of the BCACC for over 30 years. Irene has practiced with specializations in Addictions and Compulsive Behavior Therapy, IRS Trauma Recovery, Parenting and Perinatal Counselling, Family, Couples’ and Sexuality Counselling, Racialized Trauma Recovery, and Military PTSD Recovery.  She has served as Instructional Faculty at several universities, and on the Student Services Counselling Team at Vancouver Island University for the past seven years.  Irene has mentored new and pre-regulated clinical counsellors for over 25 years and provides consultation and co-vision for many post-regulated clinicians in her private practice.  Irene is a Certified Critical Incident Stress Management and Debriefing counsellor, and a member of the PHSA Disaster Psychosocial Services Volunteer Team. Irene volunteered on the Board of Directors for the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors for over 17 non-consecutive years. 

Her pronouns are she and her, and she responds to the title, “auntie” in alignment with her cultural traditions. 

Her approach to life is saturated with mindful compassion.
