Katrina Onysko, MCP, RCC

Faculty Instructor – Master of Counselling Psychology Program

  • Katrina began teaching at CityU’s Vancouver Campus in 2022 for a range of programs and courses spanning In-person, Mixed Mode, and Independent Learning Course streams.
  • Katrina aims to provide an engaging and informative classroom experience focused on concrete clinical knowledge, intercultural communication, and relational perspectives of health and wellness. Katrina’s course material, activities, and lectures draw from post-modern, systemic, and diagnostic frameworks, as well as practical therapeutic skills and techniques that can be used in clinical practice.

Katrina believes in creating a supportive and collaborative classroom environment built on the principles and tenets of group counselling and facilitation. Her style blends conversation, multimedia, and in-class assignments focused on supporting ongoing reflection and self-awareness, along with clear ethical and clinical guidelines to help ground students’ learning and growth. Overall, Katrina aims to develop practical skills for understanding and supporting clients towards their own symptom relief and recovery, particularly in more severe forms of mental illness and distress.
