Kim Rebane

Internship Instructor – School Counselling Program

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. My 33-year career with the Vancouver Board of Education included 20 years of high school counselling and teaching in the areas of English as an Additional Language, mathematics, skills support, and alternative education. I have also been a sessional instructor at the University of British Columbia in the Faculty of Education. These experiences have shown me the importance of relationships to development, learning, and personal growth.

My focus is on adolescent development: developing strategies to improve self-awareness and communication skills that will build resiliency and strong connections. My interests are in guiding youth to explore conflicts in their lives through identifying options, recognizing the responsibilities that come with choosing, and exploring the meaning of these choices. The goal is to create strong and healthy relationships with family, authority figures, friends, peers, and self.
