Vicky Nie

Vicky Nie joined City University Canada as an associate faculty member in January 2020. She teaches Financial Management and international Management courses for Bachelor of Arts in Management students. Her teaching goal is to stimulate students’ interest and enthusiasm in studying finance and to motivate students by demonstrating the relevance of what is learned. Nie’s research fields are Foreign Direct Investment and case learning and teaching. She is active in MBA case development. Nie has published three business cases with the Richard Ivey School of Business and one case with the China-European International Business School. She also has more than 15 years of industry experience in corporate strategy consultancy and trade financing.

Experience

Nie has broad teaching experience at business schools in Canada, Australia, and China. She has taught finance and business courses at MacEwan University and Thompson Rivers University. She was a visiting scholar at RMIT University, Australia, and Central Lancashire University, UK. Before relocating to Canada, she was an associate professor and graduate students’ supervisor at Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, China. Nie has also worked at HSBC and Citi Bank, Shanghai as a consultant.

Credentials

Nie holds a Master of Science in Accounting and Finance from the University of Birmingham, UK (2002) and a Bachelor of Economics from Nankai University, China (1999). She has been certified as a Documentary Credit Specialist by The London Institute of Banking & Finance (2010).
