Maika Tshimbalanga, Director of Enrollment and Student Success
Maika has worked in the higher education and not-for-profit sectors for the last 20 years. She has managed a crisis centre and led an admission team for a weekend university. In the last 14 years she has occupied various advising positions in the Students Services Department of City University of Seattle in Vancouver, BC. She is currently the Manager of Canadian Recruitment and Advising at CityU in Canada. She holds a M.A. in International Management from the Université de Montréal in Montréal, Québec and is also pursuing a doctoral degree in in Education and Leadership (Ed.D.) with a particular interest in adult learners with Simon Fraser University, in Burnaby, British Columbia. She is proficient in both official Canadian languages.
Advising Roles and Responsibilities
Maika’s primary responsibility is to ensure excellence and accountability in recruitment and advising across all sites and programs in Canada. Reporting to the Principal of Canadian Programs and working in conjunction with the -VP for Enrollment Management, Maika oversees the administrative practices and procedures of Advising in Canada consistent with City University of Seattle policies and systems. The Manager supervises all Canadian advising personnel and serves as a liaison with CityU Advising teams. Due to the scale of the Canadian programs, the Manager also performs the regular duties of an Advisor, and addresses immigration and student loan issues.
