Dr. Tom Culham will talk about his ground breaking research on the application of meditation in business classes to transform student’s character in a virtuous way.
For more information see the article published in the National Post. The Tao of the MBA the case for making business students learn to meditate
For the past 9 years Tom has been teaching business ethics at UBC and SFU employing meditation with the purpose of increasing student self awareness and inviting students to transform their character. Recent neuroscience research found that values are emotionally based and unconscious, therefore, ethics education must address unconscious emotions and meditation is one means of achieving this. Tom will engage participants in a conversation regarding the implications of “educating the unconscious” and the results of recent research on this matter.
Tom currently has funding to conduct research on classes in three universities in 2019: UBC, SFU and Dayalbagh University Agra India. He and his research team are exploring sources of additional funding to continue and expand the current program.
