EFFECTIVE VIRTUAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
The Master of Counselling Degree Virtual program utilizes a cohort-based learning framework. This means that you complete all of your courses in a virtual but synchronous learning environment (regular scheduled date and time), with the same group of students. The program typically takes three years to complete depending on the cohort and internship you choose to complete your supervised hours of practice.
CityU in Canada’s Virtual Master of Counselling program allows you to attend class by video conference every Saturday and Sunday morning. The video conference modality is a virtual but synchronous face-to-face learning platform with no discussion boards or online formats. The videoconference modality provides for an in-classroom experience while not leaving your home.
There are two weeks off in-between each quarter so that you will still have some weekends off in the year to practice self-care and connect with your families. Pedagogical methods for virtual cohorts are very similar to our other synchronous environment, which provides didactic instruction, Socratic questions, student-led presentation, case studies, role plays and many other interactive and experiential learning opportunities.
The Virtual – Synchronous delivery model provides students with a predictable schedule while benefitting from real-time video conference-based face-to-face contact with their faculty and classmates in a highly interactive and dynamic manner. This program is a great resource for the busy professional with a family who wants to pursue graduate studies in counselling.
These courses are offered via a Synchronous delivery method. This means that students will attend classes using a video conferencing platform at a regularly scheduled day and time (synchronous). The Synchronous delivery model provides students with a predictable schedule while benefitting from real-time video conference-based face-to-face contact with their faculty and classmates in a highly interactive and dynamic manner.
