Supplemental Documents-MC-BC

In addition to the general CityU application, the Master of Counselling in BC requires the following supplemental application materials to review your candidacy.

Prerequisites: Candidates for the Master of Counselling program must have completed undergraduate coursework showing the fundamental knowledge in each of the areas of Learning, Cognition, Personality and Human Development. These fundamentals may be covered in any combination/number of courses. For example, if you took one course that included the topic of Learning and Cognition and one course that included the topics of Personality and Human Development, you have probably met this requirement with these two courses.

Admissions Essay: The writing sample is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your writing skill and to briefly describe your professional goals and personal values. Reflection on these topics also begins the process of self-exploration that will continue throughout the program. Please download the guidelines for this 4-6 page essay.
Background Questionnaire: Due to the nature of the Master of Counselling program, we need to collect some background information. Please complete this background questionnaire.

References: City University requires three references for the Master of Counselling program. The professional references may be from any combination of academic instructors, professional managers/supervisors, or volunteer supervisors. Personal and client references will not be accepted as one of the three required professional references but may be submitted as supplementary documentation. Please download the reference form and send it to each of your references.   
Proof of English Proficiency: If your undergraduate degree was earned outside of Canada, United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, South Africa, or New Zealand, please review our proof of English proficiency policy.

The first step to begin your application is to complete the online Application Form and pay the $50 Application Fee

Once you complete the CityU application, be sure to check the supplemental materials required for your program of interest.

Once your application form and application fee have been received and processed you will receive an email from our Enrollment Team with instructions on how to submit the supplemental documents. Please allow up to 5 business days for your application form to be processed, and please check your junk folder to ensure you receive the email from your Enrollment Advisor.
